Notes

This chorale survives without text. The text that appears here is the one provided by editors of the Bach Gesellschaft Ausgabe (BGA).
Speculation regarding liturgical occasion: This chorale may have served the Picander–Jahrgang cantata Alles, alles Himmelswerts for Ascension (Picander 36), according to Häfner. In this case, verse 1 of Valet will ich dir geben would have been used. (NBA III/2.2 KB, pp.152–153)
