Notes

This chorale survives without text. The text that appears here is the one provided by editors of the Bach Gesellschaft Ausgabe (BGA).

Speculation regarding liturgical occasion: This setting may have come from a Picander–Jahrgang cantata, Häfner envisioning two particular possibilities: 1) Dieses ist der Tag, den der Herr macht for Epiphany (Picander 11) with the 8th verse of Lobt Gott, ihr Christen allzugleich, or 2) Der Herr ist mit uns for the Purification of Mary service (Picander 27) with the 6th verse of the same text.
